Don Giovanni, Mozart's endlessly fascinating portrait of a man who refuses all moral reckoning, arrives at the Royal Opera House in a production that crackles with dramatic tension. Don Giovanni — nobleman, seducer, and murderer — leads a dazzling procession of victims, accomplices, and would-be avengers through a night that spirals inexorably towards the supernatural. When he kills the elderly Commendatore in a duel and later invites his stone statue to dinner, he sets in motion a confrontation that no amount of charm or cunning can prevent. Mozart's inspired score gives every character their own vivid musical identity, making the opera as emotionally rich as it is dramatically gripping.

Written in collaboration with the great librettist Lorenzo da Ponte as the centrepiece of their celebrated trio of operas, Don Giovanni is staged here by director Kasper Holten, former Director of Opera at the Royal Opera House and one of the most inventive operatic directors working today. With the full forces of the Royal Opera and Royal Opera House Orchestra behind it, this production promises a performance of the highest calibre. Unmissable.
