Royal Opera House location

Situated in the heart of London’s famous Covent Garden Piazza, the Royal Opera House is surrounded by a plethora of bars, restaurants and cafés to suit any taste. This area of the West End is always incredibly popular with tourists, so it can become very busy. Transportation links to the area are excellent and nearly all other attractions are just a short walk away from the theatre.

Tube
The Royal Opera House is within walking distance of several tube stations including Covent Garden (Piccadilly Line) Holborn (Central and Piccadilly Lines) and Charing Cross (Bakerloo and Northern Lines). Please see the directions below.

From Covent Garden (2 min): Turn right out of the station into Covent Garden Piazza, then turn left and the side entrance to the Royal Opera House will be straight ahead.

From Holborn (8 min): Head straight out of Holborn station and south down Kingsway. Turn right down Great Queen Street and continue as it turns into Long Acre. Turn left down Bow Street. The theatre will be on your right-hand side.

From Charing Cross (10 min): Head straight out of the station and cross over the road at the traffic lights. Turn right down the Strand and continue walking past the Adelphi Theatre and Vaudeville Theatre. Turn left down Southampton Street, then turn right at the end of the street across the back of Covent Garden Market. Turn right down Russell Street and then right again onto Bow Street. The Royal Opera House will be on your left-hand side.

Car
The Royal Opera House is located within the London Congestion Charge Zone, which applies weekdays (excluding bank holidays) from 7am until 6pm and costs £10 per day. If you are driving to the theatre after 6pm then you will not be charged.

The theatre is part of the Q-Park Scheme. The nearest participating car park is the 24hr Q Park Chinatown Car Park (20 Newport Place, WC2H 7PR). Parking costs £18 for up to 3hrs and £24 for 4hrs, but theatregoers can save 50% if they have their tickets validated at the theatre.
